During his master’s thesis at the University of Konstanz Hendrik investigated the effect of training intensity on short- and long-term memory in honeybees. For his PhD he switched his focus to human neurosciences and started working in the O’Brain Lab in May 2017. Here he is investigating how obesity and different styles of diet manipulate our brain, especially the dopaminergic system. The main question is if diet itself already can change the way our brain works, and our ability to learn and handle cognitive tasks. For this purpose, he is using behavioral testing and neuroimaging and combines these with a genetic approach.
