O’Brain Lab part of newly funded K.G. Jebsen Centre for Obesity Research
O’Brain Lab joins the K.G. Jebsen Centre for Obesity Research to study brain-body causes of weight regain and improve obesity care.

We are pleased to announce that our team is part of a newly funded K.G. Jebsen Centre for Obesity Research, led by Prof. Yvonne Böttcher (University of Oslo, Norway).
The centre is one of three newly established research centres supported by the K.G. Jebsen Foundation, receiving substantial funding to advance cutting-edge biomedical research. The initiative will focus on a major unresolved challenge in obesity: understanding why many individuals regain weight after successful weight loss.
A central aim of the centre is to investigate potential epigenetic mechanisms in adipose tissue, including the idea of a biological “memory” that may drive weight regain. This work is embedded in a broader precision medicine framework, with the long-term goal of improving prevention strategies and individualised treatments for obesity.
Our lab will contribute its expertise in cognitive neuroscience and body-brain-behavior mechanisms, particularly focusing on how neural processes related to reward, cognitive control, and decision-making interact with metabolic and biological factors in obesity and weight regulation.
As partners in this consortium, we look forward to collaborating with leading researchers across disciplines to advance a more integrative understanding of obesity and variability in treatment response.
